Learning Outcomes (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020): 

To develop understanding of concepts and theoretical frameworks that describe, explain and prescribe the design and operation of production systems from strategy to daily operations. Operations management is perceived to cover both intra- and inter-organizational aspects in a global context. Besides providing relevant operations management concepts and theories, the objective is to learn to apply practical application of this knowledge through case studies and other assignments.

Content (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020): 

Operations strategy, service operations, process design and improvement, process choices and production layout, capacity and materials management, global operations, logistics and supply chain management, quality management.

Assessment Methods and Criteria (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020): 

Examination, assignment, case studies, lectures and literature.

Workload (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020): 

Lectures 6h, case-studies 14h, assignment 55 h, reading the course literature 55 h, exam 3h.

Prerequisites (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020): 

TU-A1100 Industrial Engineering and Management 1 (5 cr) or similar.

Further Information (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020): 

TU-C2020 and TU-C2021 are parallel courses. It is not possible to complete both.
