CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content
  • Valid 01.08.2020-31.07.2022:

    This course aims at providing an understanding of issues related to data informed decision-making and problem solving. To do this, it offers a balanced insight into the building blocks of business intelligence (BI), such as data management, data warehousing, reporting, and analytics. Besides a set of guest speakers representing academia and business life, a central feature of the course is a BI challenge, which students work in small groups. The course requires both independent learning skills and organizational skills.

  • Applies in this implementation:

    Students will get chances to hear stories of BI applications and usage in real business life from guest speakers, tentatively including Analytics Architect of IBM Finland, CTO of Marimekko, Head of Business Intelligence of F-Secure, Head of Market Intelligence Services of M-brain, etc.

    50% assignments

    Spring 2022:

    50% assignments
    50% learning diary / Final exam

  • Applies in this implementation:

    Students are expected to learn to use IBM Cognos for the big assignment (50%).

    In addition, students can choose to write learning diary OR attend a final exam, which constitute the rest of 50% of the course evaluation.
