Learning Outcomes (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020): The Artistic Work Seminar assists students to accomplish comprehensive understanding of their working methods and expressional intensities. Students will learn new ways of thinking and making by expanding their knowledge of contemporary art and photography. The course strengthens students' conceptual and practical skills as well as their ability to work as independent practitioners.
Content (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020): During the seminar the students will present their on-going work and projects and take part in the discussion of other students' work. The presentations may also be composed of any chosen subject relevant to students' artistic practice. The discussions will focus is on the key questions and methods of photographic expression in relation to each students' individual visual work. The On Photography -lecture series is incorporated in the course schedule and content.
Assessment Methods and Criteria (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020): The course demands 80% attendance at lectures, group meetings and talks. Each student is to compose, complete and perform a presentation related to one's own artistic work and practice.
Workload (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020): 6 ects equals a total of 162 hours of students' work. The total hours of the course are divided into lectures, group meetings including students' seminar presentations, and independent work. Individual tutorials are offered during the course period.

Prerequisites (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020): The first year MA Photography students are prioritised. If possible, also other students of the Master´s Programme in Photography may be accepted in the course either in enrolment order or by requested application letter.
