Internet Forum is a studia generalia course hosted by the Department of Communication and Networking Technology (Comnet). The course handles hot topics in Internet and wireless information technology including global and national trends, product, business and technology strategies and covers issues from recent advances in research to the social, economic and legal impact of the application of the latest technology. The guest speakers are leaders in their fields, scientists, innovators, and business and technology officers in their companies.
Details on the course content (applies in this implementation):
The course Internet Forum addresses the different aspects - threats and
opportunities - of something that concerns us all; digitalization. It's
been said that everything that can be digitalized, will be. But what
does digitalization mean, in practice, to, for example, the flight
operations of Finnair, the Finnish society, and safety and security?
What do leadership and ethical questions have to do with digitalization?
In this course, expert lecturers give their answers to these and many
other topical questions.
Assessment Methods and Criteria (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020):
Compulsory: Attending lectures, assignment, examination (5 cr). The detailed requirements will be given annually.
Elaboration of the evaluation criteria and methods, and acquainting students with the evaluation (applies in this implementation):
the exam the course is worth 3 credits and will be graded pass/fail based on your attendance and lecture diaries. If
you pass the exam, the course will be worth 5 credits and will be
graded 1-5 based solely on your exam grade (you still need a passing grade on the diaries!).
will (probably) be five exam questions, of which you select four to
answer. Some of the exam questions are based on the lectures; some
will be based on reading material (TBA).
