Student learns to use CAD tools for IC design and gathers experience on real IC design. Student becomes familiar with design procedure from definitions to circuit implementation. He is able to present the work flow and results.

Special project with emphasis on practical IC design: topic from analog IC, digital IC, or RF IC.

Details on the course content (applies in this implementation): 

This course is part of the micro- and nanoelectronic circuit design major of the master's programme in Electronics and Nanotechnology. The prerequisite for this course is that you have studied the courses ELEC-E3510 Basics of IC Design and ELEC-E3520 Digital Microelectronics I, or you have gained equivalent knowledge on the basics of IC desing.

In the project work you will carry out independent work under guidance of a mentor, and you will learn how to design and simulate an IC circuit. Your instructor will be one of the post-graduate students of the ECD group. You may choose a topic from a given list and it includes topics from analog, digital, and high-frequency circuit design.



Assessment Methods and Criteria (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020): 

Personal project work with an advisor. Study diary and final presentation will be evaluated.

Details on the schedule (applies in this implementation): 

  • In the first meeting  topics are defined for each student and we go thorough some practical arrangements. After this you will meet your advisor and together you start the project work.
  • On 31.3.2020  all student meet and we will have a discussion meeting where each student gives a brief progress report.
  • During the Final Presentation Day on 12.5.2020 each student gives a 15-20 min presentations on their project work
