After the course the student understands the operation principles of power electronics and the operation of the most essential converters.

Content (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020): 

The course gives an introduction to power electronics used in electric drives and power supplies. Topics discussed are: power electronic systems, overview of power semiconductor switches, line-commutated ac-dc rectifiers, dc-dc switch-mode converters, self-commutated dc-ac inverters.

Lectures, problem solving classes, laboratory exercises, examination.
