The aim is that you learn more about the materials science and in particular about interfacial phenomena, electrified interfaces, and their relation to the biocompatibility and reliability of active medical implants.

Content (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020): 

Interfacial compatibility of living tissues and synthetic materials. Interfacial
interactions, water and protein adsorption on surfaces, surface properties of biomaterials
and surface treatments for improved biocompatibility.

Details on the course content (applies in this implementation): 

We concentrate on the interface between the foreign material and tissue. In particular, we look at the surface properties of the foreign body and how we can influence them to induce better biocompatibility.
