I & IV

Learning Outcomes (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020):

The aim is to give students ideas and readiness to work with new materials and techniques in an experimenting and open-minded way.

Content (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020):

To deepen the knowledge that students have gained from earlier material studies by experimenting with new or special materials and techniques.

Details on the course content (applies in this implementation):

On this
course the focus is on defining what “ecologic materials” for scenographic work
encompass, what alternatives we have to replace commonly used materials and/or
building methods with a greener option and how the varying levels of ecologic
choises affect the design process. We approach these questions through hands on
exercises, research, analysis and discussions. The goal is to give students a
greater understanding and tools for estimating the total ecologic footprint of
their future projects as well as insight into more ecologic choises and
processes in their work.

Assessment Methods and Criteria (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020):

Lectures, workshop work, material experiments, excursions.

The first day of the course is mandatory in order to participate the course.

Elaboration of the evaluation criteria and methods, and acquainting students with the evaluation (applies in this implementation):

As apart of
the course four assignments will be assessed. The first assignment is an
information gathering task and the assesment is based on the students ability
to analyse, evaluate and organize the gathered data and the ability to see how
the data could be used. The other assignments have an artistic and design
approach and will be assessed based on the students insight on the use of
materials, originality of design ideas, artistic whole and on how goals set for
each assignment by the student herself have been met. On a general level the
students activity in discussions and ability to develope her working methods for
the more ecological are assessed. A verbal feedback will be given on the
assignments.

Workload (valid 01.08.2018-31.07.2020):

Lectures, demonstrations 40%

Practise work, experiments with materials 60%

Details on calculating the workload (applies in this implementation):

Workload: lectures 32 h / group works and joint discussions 24 h / visits 10 h /
independent work  92 h
