CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD
Content
Valid 01.08.2020-31.07.2022:
During the contact teaching, students learn advanced knitwear design methods and become familiar with sustainable practices of knitwear design. Students design a collection of knits or knitwear and realize it with handknitting machines and/or industrial knitting machine. Students select the area to specialize according to their own interests and design an individual design project for thesis collection or other tutored design project. Technical details of each fabric should be documented in product cards, and one copy of each product card with a small sample of fabric should be given for workshop archieves.
Learning activities:
Lectures, demonstrations and other contact teaching, group and individual tutoring, supervised assignment, independent work and critiques.
Assessment Methods and Criteria

Grading criteria: Assignments and participation in teaching
Criteria for the assignment: Understanding of knitted structures, artistic application of learned techniques in own collection, creativity of knitwear design, artistic expression, documentation of technical data on info cards.

2 cr = 54h
10 cr = 270h
Lectures and tutorials: 28h for all students, 80% attendance required
group meetings and tutorials: 5h - 15h depending on the number of credits, 80% attendance required
critic: 4h for all students completing 3 cr or more, attendance required
time to think: 5h - 30h depending on the number of credits
self-guided activities: 15h - 195h depending on the number of credits
students have the possibility to meet teacher for individual tutoring for 0,5h-3h: 50h of teacher´s work

BA students: Neuleet ja neulokset, Neulesuunnittelu and preferably also Tekstiilimallisto, prosessit ja viimeistykset.
MA students: Same as in BA or Knits and Knitwear studio.

Priority:
1) Students from Fashion, Clothing and Textile Design (MA) and Fashion and Design majors (BA) who have the course in their personal study plan and who need it to be able to work on their thesis project or other relevant project related to printed fabrics.
2) Textiles - Material and Structure - minor students who have the course in their personal study plan (after taking Knits and Knitwear Studio - course)
3) Exchange students in Fashion (BA), Design (BA) or Fashion, Clothing and Textile Design (MA) (after taking Knits and Knitwear Studio - course)
4) Other participants according to the relevance of their projects
Course plan as a pre-assigment should be submitted via email to responsible teacher at the same time with registration.
