CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content
  • Valid 01.08.2020-31.07.2022:

The general purpose of this course is to familiarize students with the basic principles and techniques of HRM. The course takes a practical view that integrates the contributions of the behavioral sciences with the technical aspects of implementing the HR function in the ‘real world’. We will start by examining the roles, contexts, and challenges of HRM. We will then look at various HR practices and issues, including recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, compensation, workplace diversity and inclusion, and the work-life interface.

  • Applies in this implementation:

Human resource management (HRM) is a
central function of any organization, and generally, 50 percent or more of an
organization’s operating budget is used to pay the people who work there. HRM
can be defined as the effective and strategic use of human capital in an
organization through the management of people-related activities. It involves
workforce planning, recruiting and selecting employees, training and developing
them, evaluating and compensating their performance, etc.

Not everyone who takes this course
will become a human resource professional. However, all employees and managers,
no matter what their specialization, play an integral role in carrying out HR
policies and practices in organizations – and they all have to deal with their
organization’s human resources department. Thus, a basic understanding of HRM
    is essential.
