CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content
  • Valid 01.08.2020-31.07.2022:

    The central focus in Studio B is to increase the student's understanding of their own artistic actions and the consequences of their choices. The keyword of the course is "You". The course emphasizes discussion and interaction with peers, as well as making and thinking about art. Personal artistic viewpoints and conceptual ways of thinking are deepened, through longer assignments that emphasize choices informed by an awareness of the communicative role of art.

    Due to the Covid 19 pandemic situation, the teaching of this course is arranged remotely.

Assessment Methods and Criteria
  • Valid 01.08.2020-31.07.2022:

    Exercises on perception and experience, that include critical reflection on both. Assignments given by the teacher. Supervised task-based working, critiques, and discussions. Exercises using varying techniques (individual and group working). Exhibition visits.

    Assessment criteria. Student's personal development, active participation in class, and the ability to absorb and benefit from the instruction.

  • Applies in this implementation:

    Evaluation method in the course is peer review. It means that both unfinished and 
    finished works are looked and talked about together in discussions in small groups and/or one to one in Zoom-meetings.

    Due to the pandemic situation, the exhibition visits will be replaced with online visits to museums and galleries.

    • Course completion requires at least 80% attendance and completion of assigned work given by the teachers by a specific deadline.
    • Students are requested to notify the teacher of their own group (or if the teacher is unavailable, the teacher-in-charge) via e-mail,  of any absence due to illness or another serious reason.
    • If you are sick, follow the instructions in MyCourses for making the assignment of the actual day. Submit it in MyCourses before the following course meeting day.

Substitutes for Courses
  • Valid 01.08.2020-31.07.2022:

    Contemporary Practice: Art, Media, Design and Architecture Culture, Studio A and Studio B partially substitute for the earlier compulsory general studies in art and theory. Substitutions are dealt with on a case-by-case basis and depend on the student's previously completed studies in art and theory. Students may be given supplementary assignments/courses.
