CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content

    Basis of enzyme catalysis. Draw reaction coordinates and how to interpret them. Orinciples of how to develop an enzyme inhibitor. Comparison of enzyme catalysis vs. classical catalysis. Enzyme engineering and selected strategies to do this, including  directed evolution. How enzymatic processes can be utilized in a more sustainable way.

    Primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary protein structure. Chemical properties of all amino acids and their names and abbreviations. Methods to purify a given proteins in the laboratory, procedures for the analysis and sequencing of proteins.
