CONTENT, ASSESSMENT AND WORKLOAD

Content

    This three-credit interdisciplinary problem-based learning (PBL) course focuses on developing key spoken and written communication skills required for future working life.

    During the course, students learn the necessary tools to collaborate in interdisciplinary teams to find solutions to real-life sustainability issues faced by companies and organizations. Each student functions as an expert on their particular area within the team and is responsible for researching the solution from that particular angle, for example, design, branding, technical or financial viability. Students practise structuring arguments and counterarguments both in speaking and in writing as well as apply different types of reasoning behind argumentation. Students analyse speeches and sample texts to identify strengths and weaknesses. During the course, students receive constructive feedback on their written and spoken argumentation skills, give feedback to others, and reflect on their own performance.
