Please note! Course description is confirmed for two academic years, which means that in general, e.g. Learning outcomes, assessment methods and key content stays unchanged. However, via course syllabus, it is possible to specify or change the course execution in each realization of the course, such as how the contact sessions are organized, assessment methods weighted or materials used.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The objective of the course is to deepen the knowledge acquired in earlier studies on planning and running manufacturing systems and about manufacturing methods and machine tools.

After the course the student:

  1. Knows the basics of manufacturing system types in relation to product variation and is able to formulate a manufacturing strategy.
  2. Is able to create process plans and do layout planning and discrete event simulation modelling.
  3. Has in-depth knowledge of manufacturing methods and assembly operations.
  4. Has some practical machining skills.
