Students are expected to complete a small project on a given topic or a topic of their choosing and confirmed by the instructor. Projects will be performed in teams of two students.
Possible topics can include:
1. Case studies of enabling technologies (ICT tools / platforms / methods) intended for industrial internet applications.
2. Case studies describing the application of industrial internet in a concrete company / industry case.
3. Specific studies suggested by industrial firms for the course.
4. Students can also choose their own topic within their own area of expertise or interest.
Topics are chosen by navigating in MyCourses to the group formation link found in the Project page and picking the group number that corresponds to the desired topic. For example, by picking group 7, you are expected to study Data Distribution Services, as seen in figure 1. Group formation works on a first come first serve basis. As is, take that into consideration when choosing a group if you have a particular partner you would like to work with, in order to ensure there is room for both of you in the group you choose. Group forming will be open from Tuesday the 28th of February to Friday the 3rd of March.

Topic confirmations (max 1 A4 page) should be submitted electronically to MyCourses by March 6. After confirmation, a mid-term report (3-5 pages) describing the progress of the work is expected by March 20. The final deliverables of the project should be submitted by April 17. The expected final deliverables consist of an essay (max 15 pages) and a slide presentation (max 3 slides) summarizing the key findings of the study.
After the course proper, a separate workshop will be organized on April 20 on the project results where all teams can present their 3-slide summaries in a 7-minute presentation followed by short discussion.
