Assignments
There are two graded homework assignments in this course. The Matlab, Simulink, and C compiler software is needed to complete these assignments. You should install this software on your own computer in good time before the instructions sessions (see the instructions below). Alternatively, you may use computer classrooms on the campus.
Two instruction sessions per assignment will be held. You may attend as many sessions as you will. If you can use your own laptop for simulations, please take it with you for the instruction sessions.
General guidelines of the assignments are:
- The assignments are to be completed in groups of two (recommended) or alone.
- Both students of the group should contribute all parts of the assignment. Both students of the group should submit their common reports individually. Remember to include your full names and student numbers in your report.
- You are encouraged to discuss the assignments in general terms with other groups but copying solutions from other groups is not allowed!
- Reports should be clearly and consistently written.
This assignment deals with control of an induction motor drive. First, scalar control as well as motor and inverter models are studied. Then, rotor-flux-oriented vector control is considered. This assignment also aims to familiarise you with implementation of simple discretized algorithms using MATLAB Function blocks in the Simulink software. Two instruction sessions will be held in Seminaarisali, Open Innovation House:
- Wednesday 15.3.2017 at 10:15-12:00
- Wednesday 22.3.2017 at 10:15-12:00
Submit your report as a PDF file and the two requested Simulink models no later than on Wednesday 5.4.2017. The assignment will be graded on a scale of 0-15 points (15% of the total available points).
- Wednesday 15.3.2017 at 10:15-12:00
This assignment deals with control of a grid converter equipped with an L filter. Two instruction sessions will be held in Seminaarisali, Open Innovation House:
- Wednesday 19.4.2017 at 10:15-12:00
- Tuesday 25.4.2017 at 10:15-12:00
- Wednesday 19.4.2017 at 10:15-12:00
