For English students
The lectures and exercise sessions will be held in Finnish, but it is possible to take this course in English as a self-study course.
In the 'Exercises' folder below, you can find the translated exercise sets - the same that are used in the Finnish exercise sessions. There are two exercise sets per week. Each exercise set includes 2-3 demo exercises and a few more problems concerning the same topic. The model solutions for these problems are presented in the 'Model solutions' folder.
In addition, each exercise set contains one homework exercise. These exercises are graded on a scale of 0-2. Both hand-written and electronic submissions are okay. The paper solutions should be returned to one of the course submission boxes in the 1st floor, near the student hub. Electronic submissions should be in .pdf format, and they can be submitted via email to the course main assistant.
The final grade from the course will be determined by the final exam and additional points from the exercises. The exact amount of compensation from the exercises is yet to be decided, but correctly solving all problems will be worth 1-2 out of five exam questions. The course will be graded on a scale of 0-5.
Unfortunately, the lecture slides are not available in English, so we suggest getting hands on some textbook on the subject. The lectures are loosely based on the book Operations Research, An Introduction by H. A. Taha. However, the exam questions will be similar to homework exercises, so if the model solutions and Wikipedia seem sufficient for solving the problems, a textbook may not be necessary.
