Ever wondered what governance is? Or who are your stakeholders, and what is the difference between organisation and institution? Do you know how law affects water and environmental engineering field? Or how this all is related to politics and, ultimately, to sustainability?
Welcome to our brand-new course on Water & Governance!
The course is part of our new Master's Programme in Water and Environmental Engineering (WAT), and it provides you with an in-depth introduction to broad issue of governance in relation to water management. The course combines the theory of key elements of water governance (introduced through Contact Sessions on Tuesdays) with practical case studies, focusing on different governance contexts (presented during Case Study Sessions on Fridays).
The course is organised on Tuesdays (morning: 9-11.30) and Fridays (afternoon: 13-15.30) during Period III, starting on Jan 3rd. In addition, every week will include preparatory Reading Circles: their time is for your group to choose.
Tuesdays are Contact Sessions covering a specific weekly theme: you will familiarise yourself and discuss the theme already beforehand by reading a giving material and discussing it in a preparatory Reading Circle. Fridays will then focus on a Case Study Session that is planned and implemented by the student group (each group runs its own Case Study Session). NOTE2: The course starts on TUESDAY January 3rd at 10.00 sharp at the Lecture Hall 286 in Tietotie 1E! As Friday January 6th is public holiday, the second session of the course takes place on Tuesday January 10th.
