CS-E4000 is a Master level course, compulsory for the Software Systems and Technologies track of the Computer Science major. The course is worth 5 ECTS credits, is offered in English and is graded on the scale 0 to 5. This workspace is for the Spring 2018 edition of the course.
You will gain a deep understanding of an advanced topic in computer science, including (but not limited to): mobile computing and services, secure systems, big data, software systems and technologies. You will learn to survey up-to-date research literature and technical documentation on a new topic, to analyze the information critically and to summarize it, to write a technical article in English, and to present it to a technical audience. You may perform experiments to deepen your knowledge of the given topic, to solve a technical or scientific problem, and to present their own results. You will acquire a set of skills that will be useful for the Master's thesis project.
The course addresses a broad range of current topics in computer science. These topics are specified by university researchers as well as industry experts and vary each year.
Assessment methods and criteria
Seminar paper, presentation and opponent feedback. Detailed evaluation criteria are available in the section about course material.
Bachelor degree and at least one semester of studies at Master level. Basic LaTeX skills.
