In this course, students will carry out a small research projects under the supervision of one of the researchers from the Department of Computer Science in the topics from machine learning, data mining and related fields.
The number of credit points may vary in the range 5-10, the exact number will depend on the difficulty of the project and the workload. The work will be graded by your supervisor.

- If you have been working in the department, you can use your work to pass the course. You can also use your summer projects if you have been a summer trainee. You should discuss the details (e.g. the number of credit points) with your supervisor. Note however, that the same work cannot be used as a project for more than one courses, or thesis.
To pass the course, the students have to:
- write a report which would resemble a scientific article. The report should contain introduction to the problem, the proposed solution and experimental results.
- give a 15 minute presentation at the end of the course.
- give a 5 minute midterm presentation, describing the current status and the future plans.
Course meetings will be on Wednesdays, 14.15-16, at 1171-72 (1171-72), TUAS, Maarintie 8, unless informed.
