Introduction to intercultural communication
We have quite various backgrounds, cultures and languages here in Aalto ELEC
Students come to Aalo ELEC from all around the globe. We have- approximately 100 incoming exchange students both in bachelor's and Master's level
- approximately 250 new bachelor's students
- approximately 25 new Master's students in finnish Master's programmes
- approximately 100 new degree students in international Master's programmes
To help establish contacts and get to know each others we are organizing
workshops for all the new in September and FuksiProffaBuffetti
-happening in October with the staff.
Workshops
Workshops are a compulsory part of
the introduction course. Workshops are organized in three groups, enrolling is done in WebOodi (course ELEC-A0110) . Attendance for the workshop is marked in MyCourses in the Tehtävät / Övningar page.
FuksiProffaBuffetti
FuksiProffaBuffetti is a voluntary happening whit food, Teekkarispeksi and a Bingo competition. Enrolling for the FuksiProffaBuffetti is done via student guilds.
Alternative assignment for those, who missed the workshop
The workshops dealt with intercultural communication skills. If you did not attend to any workshop you need to cover it up. In order to do this, please browse through eg. wikipedia article on the subject intercultural communication and familiarize ypurself with the concept. What do you think are the benefits of gaining intercultural competence? Do you think you need it and why/why not?
