Course information 2018
The course introduces the most important ferrous and non-ferrous alloys used in mechanical engineering. The course includes lectures and assignments. The course teaches how the performance and properties are related to alloying and microstructure, and how the microstructure is tailored with different heat treatment methods. Also, the effect of service environment and temperature are taken into account. Assignments are mostly independent homework. The solutions are discussed in exercises (see table below). Successful completing of the course assignments is compulsory.
Students should download CES EduPack from download.aalto.fi for the course. CES EduPack user manual is in Materials section.
Planned schedule:
Separate enrollment in lab exercise in oodi (select one group).
Welcome to the course,
