Hilbert spaces are topologically complete vector spaces where an inner product makes it possible to talk about orthogonality: Euclidean spaces are just the finite-dimensional Hilbert spaces. Hilbert spaces naturally appear in applications to mechanics (both classical and quantum). The course is meant for students in all fields of engineering, science and mathematics.
