A!ENG Research Lab (3 cr., ECTS)
The course provides an introduction to the doctoral thesis process, including information on conducting good quality research and publishing in well-respected journals. The main themes of the course are science, research and scientific writing, but the course also includes topics such as research planning, time management, career and well-being.
The course is also an excellent opportunity for reflecting your research process together with you peers i.e. other doctoral students.
The course is aimed for doctoral candidates in their early phase of studies and research. There's no exam in the course and participation in teaching sessions is necessary. One non-attendance allowed. Grading: pass/fail.
The scientific writing part of the course, i.e. the Yhd-12.Z Scientific Writing Seminar (Link to course page), can be taken independently of A!ENG Research Lab, and the A!ENG Research Lab can be taken without the Scientific Writing Seminar.
Learning aims
In this course you learn on the aims and
requirements for doctoral degree in A!ENG; the main principles of science, and
the role of research method in science; scientific writing and in
outlining a scientific manuscript; planning of research; time management; on the
importance of paying attention on well-being during the thesis; career planning; and interaction, group working and
reflection skills.
