This course is taught in Finnish. The course has compulsory programming exercises, which are given only in Finnish. To take this course, you must be able to understand them.
The course offers exercise sessions where the assistants help the students to solve the programming exercises. The assistants can answer your questions in English, but they do not translate the exercise problems.
You can use an English text book Gaddis: Starting out with Python 2nd or 3rd Ed (Pearson) to study the material which is needed in the course.
You must also take an exam to pass the course. You can have an English exam sheet, if you ask it when you register for exam. The registration is in Oodi and the deadline is one week before the exam. If you register for Fall 2018 course, you are automatically registered for the exam on Nov 30th.
In Fall 2018, there is a new course ELEC-A5050 Basics of programming having the same contents in English. The number of the students in that course is restricted. If you are interested in taking that course, send e-mail to the responsible teacher of the course, Pasi Sarolahti (pasi dot sarolahti at aalto dot fi) and ask him whether you can take it.
