  • The presentation should overview the content of the seminar paper and focus on a few selected aspects (either existing research works or original results).

    Format

There is no pre-specified format for the slides, so you can use any template and software (e.g,, LaTeX or Powerpoint). The only recommendation is to make sure that the slides are easy to read when shown with a projector. Due to software-related constraints of the computer used during the seminar day, the format of the submitted slides should be one of the following: PDF, Powerpoint or HTML. In the latter case, the HTML presentation should be self-contained (i.e., it should not need an Internet connection to be shown) and should be submitted as an archive (in zip or gzip/bzip format) with all the needed files.

    Practicalities

The slides should target a presentation lasting for at most 15 minutes. It is recommended to practice the presentation in advance and make sure that its duration is between 12 and 14 minutes. As presentation styles are very personal, there is no general recommendation about the number of slides, which are expected to be less than 15 (usually 8 to 13 would work for most people). Additional advice about the presentation are given in the slides of the lecture about writing and presenting technical content.

    Submission instructions

The slides must be submitted through MyCourses using the submission link below. No other form of submission will be accepted. Should you have problems in accessing the link, promptly contact the course staff at cs-e4000@aalto.fi.

Slides should be submitted in PDF, PowerPoint or HTML format. Submissions should only consist of a single file or of an archive (in zip or gzip/bzip format) in case you need to submit multiple files.

You can submit multiple times until the deadline expires. In case multiple submissions are present, only the latest submission will be considered.
