The aim of practical training is to deepen the professional skills by doing major studies related area specific practical engineering and/or research tasks under senior supervision. The tasks should be typical for the later M.Sc. work profiles. Recommendations for the type and content of the training tasks set by the individual master programmes are to be followed.
The student applies for a trainee position in a suitable company or other organization. At least 2 weeks of full-time work (37,5 – 40 h / week) in a suitable company or other work community (max 10 weeks = 5 credits). For part time work calculate the hours you have worked, 75 hours equals 1 credit point (max 375 hours = 5 credits). . The trainee assignment as such can be longer and it can also consist of several shorter periods or longer term part time assignments (credits are awarded with the periods collected and combined). Both domestic and international training is accepted.

Improved capabilities for applying, analyzing and evaluating engineering and/or research methods relevant to the major studies in practice. Ability for creative engineering work under senior supervision. Deepened professional skills, ability to combine theory and practice and adaptation of specific working methods. Understanding and applying responsibility and task division in real design, project or research contexts. Understanding spesific organization, networking and communication principles and methods. Knowing applicable rules, regulations and limitations.
|Prerequisites||Trainee must be accepted in a specific M.Sc. programme when the training period takes place.|
|Assesment methods and criteria||The ENG-E1010 Training consists of a work placement in a suitable company or other workplace community and a report written according to the instructions.|
According to working environment, report in English, Finnish or Swedish.
