Topic outline

  • Please note that week 4 contains two themes in two separate sections.

This one, Week 4A: Comparing and contrasting information, is compulsory.

Week 4B: Use of Articles is optional.

Both of these will be of great help in developing your writing skills as well as your language accuracy.

When evaluating (or comparing and contrasting) information, you should use clear language to indicate the similarities and differences between two or more concepts. Although it is said that "facts speak for themselves", quite often this notion is abused by novice writers when they assume that "everyone knows this". The less time a writer uses for planning and organizing information, the more time the reader has to spend on figuring out how the facts relate to each other. Usually, this does not make the reader happy (e.g. a boss or professor).

You can help your clients and other readers to understand the important facts better with proper explanations and by synthesizing information.

Study the materials provided below to learn useful expressions needed when evaluating information in feasibility reports. Similar expressions are also used when writing a master's thesis.

Read the Instructions for Assignment 4 and write your Evaluations of solutions accordingly.

Submit your text (including the new sections you wrote this week) in Assignment 4 (WA4): Evaluations of solutions below to receive teacher feedback on your report.
