Case Study
For the Case Study this year we'll delve into cyber attacks with a physical twist, that is cyber attacks where a significant part of the attack was a failure of physical security at some point.
Some materials on this page may require you to be logged in with an Aalto account.
First, each group picks a case they'd like to study; it's up to you to decide what cases are interesting enough to not only you but the other students as well. Do not pick a subject some other group already picked.
There is no specific deadline for picking a subject, but it's a good idea to reserve your subject by announcing it before you do any significant work.
- The second step is to provide a proof of progress, on both your presentation and article. Neither needs to be complete, but both must show at least some progress at this point. The file format for articles is PDF. Make them look like an article in a scientific magazine. The file format for presentations is either PDF or PowerPoint. Name both files "Group Name: Subject".
The deadline for both is 9 am on April 29th.
For the case study presentation day, May 12th, all groups prepare a 10-minute slideshow to present their case studies to all students. Make your presentations engaging, and prepare to also ask questions to the other groups.
Choose yourself, who of you will present (one or more people). This is a nice place to practice your presenting skills! Hand in your group's presentation as a PDF or PowerPoint file.
The deadline for the presentations is 9 am on May 12th.
NB! Name your file "Group #: Subject", where # is your group number and Subject is your subject.
The deadline for articles is the day after presentations, so you can include last-minute corrections that may come up in the audience questions. Write your article in the style of a scientific journal (you can pick which one, even a fictitious one). Explain the case so that it can be understood with a bachelor-level background. The expected length of the article is about ten to twenty pages.
The deadline for the articles is 9 am on May 13th.
NB! Name your file "Group #: Subject", where # is your group number and Subject is your subject.

Next, everyone reviews all presentations (except their own group's presentation). You'll grade them numerically and can also give comments. Your feedback will be provided to the author group anonymized.
The review assignments will appear here around the time of the presentations.
The deadline for the reviews is 9 am on May 20th.
The feedback on your group's presentation and average grades for all presentations will appear here on May 20th.
All articles will appear here on May 13th.
Next, all students will read and review all articles. You'll grade them numerically and can also give comments. Your feedback will be provided to the author group anonymized.
Don't grade your own group. The deadline for the reviews is 9 am on May 20th.
Here are the statistics of article and presentation reviews, and comments for your group's article and presentation.
