Welcome!
Interaction design for digital systems and services is often one of the most crucial success factors behind customer satisfaction. High-quality interactiveness and user experience is also an expectation that users have for any new product: marketplaces in Apple Store and Android Play Store have taught people to expect good usability and user experience. Yet creation of high-quality user interfaces is not a straightforward task.
In this course, you will learn tools, from sketching to small-scale web programming, on how to design interactions that users will find pleasant to use and will appreciate. You will both learn to follow the well-tried approaches but also to break them with concept-driven design, to offer users with unique user experiences.
The course is intensive: it is carried out in small groups, with novel methods to learn every week. We will not have an external customer, which gives you a possibility for experimentation. This allows you to challenge yourself, and maximise your learning. Every group will also work on a similar open-ended project brief. In crit sessions in the end of the week you will have a chance to learn from each other, by seeing how other groups are addressing the same challenges. You will be helped throughout the course with weekly group tutoring meetings.
How to sign up: The participation in this course is limited. As already said in the Oodi page, priority is given to Collaborative and Industrial Design second year students who have this course accepted in their personal study plan (HOPS), and USchool minor students. Otherwise the priority order follows the general Into guidelines. The signup is open until 21 October. The choice of studends can be done only after the last signup day has passed.
If you have any questions, please contact the course teacher. See you in the end of October!
