Welcome to the Evaluating Interactions (EIx) Course!
The Evaluating Interactions (EIx) course takes place between 24.2-3.4.2020. EIx lectures are scheduled on Mondays (9.15-12.00, 13:15-15:00, 15:15-17:00) and Fridays (13:15-15:00, 15:15-17:00) in room Q202 of the Väre building. In addition, in 2020 the Evaluating Interactions (EIx) and Interaction Design (IxD) courses will join forces. This means that EIx students will cover theoretical aspects of the EIx course by joining IxD sessions scheduled Tuesday to Friday between 9.15 and 12.00 in Väre in room Q201 (on Tuesday March 3 and Wednesday March 11 we are in room Q202).
First Part of EIx
The first three weeks of the EIx course will therefore consist of EIx lectures (Mondays and Fridays), IxD sessions (Tuesday to Friday), as well as individual and group work. Each IxD session consists of flipped classroom discussions, in-class exercises, and lectures. Pairs of EIx students will lead flipped classroom discussions at the start of each IxD session by reading and reflecting on a book chapter with the rest of the class. I will provide more info on how this will work during our first meeting on Monday February 24.
In preparation for each IxD session you must read a chapter from the Interaction Design book by Sharp et al. (2019). Several copies of this book are available at the University library (look for earlier editions). Please note the order of authors and chapter numbers vary depending on the book's edition (e.g., Preece et al. 2015, Rogers et al. 2011; Sharp et al. 2007; Preece et al. 2002). I will include a couple IxD book chapters in PDF under materials for convenience.

Second Part of EIx
In the second part of this course (weeks 12-14), we will be working on a larger group project where you will evaluate a working prototype.
Task: for our first session on Monday 24.2, please read chapters 1 and 2 of the Interaction Design book by Sharp et al. (2019).
Note: despite the connection between this Evaluating Interactions (EIx) course at the Department of Design and the Interaction Design (IxD) Course at the Department of Media, EIx students need only be registered to this EIx course.
