Welcome to the home page of TU-E2030 - Advanced Project-based Management, Fall 2019 (3-5 cr)!
For all students regardless of whether they take the 3cr or 5 cr version of the course: The advanced project management course consists of 6 lectures held on Thursdays, each of duration of 4 hours. Participation to all these 6 lectures is obligatory.
Each lecture has a pre-assignment that is launched one
week before the lecture, and the student must submit the pre-assignment to
MyCourses the day before the lecture at noon (i.e., on Wednesday at 12.00
hours). The workload of the pre-assignment is substantial.
PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE TIMING OF THE PRE-ASSIGNMENT FOR THE FIRST LECTURE: we will publish the pre-material (i.e. the written material and videos, and pre-assignment instructions, and pre-assignment grading criteria) in MyCourses at latest Thu 29.8.2019, i.e. two weeks before the first lecture. Then, you are expected to submit your pre-assignment in a normal order on the day before lecture, i.e. on Wed 11.9.2019 at noon (i.e. at 12.00 hours) at the latest. THIS REQUIRES THAT YOU START WORKING FOR THE COURSE WELL BEFORE THE FIRST LECTURE TAKES PLACE (i.e., by working on the pre-assignment of the first lecture).
Please recognize also that this pre-assignment will require a lot of your attention and working time. Delays from the submission deadline is unacceptable.
For those students of DIEM department and those focusing on Operations and Service Management, taking the 5cr version of the course: We have scheduled 4-hour presentation / discussion sessions concerning students’ (student groups’) empirical assignments on the following days: 31.10., 7.11., 14.11., 21.11., 22.11., 28.11., and 4.12.2019. Participation for 5cr students to all these sessions is obligatory.
The empirical assignment process will be instructed/provided in the end of the first lecture of 12.9.2019 (i.e., before 16.00 hours and including within the reserved 4-hour lecture time). In this instructing part, only the smaller group of students participating to (or interested of taking) the 5cr version of the course can remain present.
The course will be arranged during Periods I-II with two different versions (3 or 5 credits).
The 3 cr version is aimed at students with a minor in industrial management, as well as all other students generally interested in project management.
The number of participants in the 5 credits version is limited, and therefore priority is given to students majoring in industrial management and students who have included the course in their mandatory curriculum (extended minor or similar). Consequently, a special application is required for the 5 credits version. The application procedure, as well as other practicalities related to the 5 credits version, is explained during the first lecture on Thursday, September 12th.
Please refer to the course description for more information about the workload and the prerequisites for both course versions.
There is a separate enrollment/application procedure only for the 5 credits course with an application deadline after the second lecture, i.e on Thu Sep 19th at 17.00 hours (notification of acceptance on Fri Sept 20th). Students must also register in WebOodi for the course. The registration in WebOodi is mandatory as it enables the course staff to manage course practicalities.
The first lecture will be held in hall AS2 on Thursday 12th September at 12:15 - 16:00.
Note that you should sign up for the small group teaching arranged in Period II only if you are attending the 5 credits version. The detailed instructions for the 5 credits course will be given during the first lecture.
All essential information associated with the course will be available on this MyCourse page. It is advisable to turn on email notifications from this course in order to receive the latest updates and possible schedule changes in real time.
