We will be running two thesis seminars: intensive and remote. Each have their own WebOodi registrations and MyCourses site.
Intensive: last week of Summer before period I (= Orientation week).
Notice that course has contact teaching, requires 100% participation in the 3 contact teaching days and takes place only once a year, in the orientation week just before period I.
Remote: Remote implementation of Thesis seminar can be done any time during the academic year by submitting a set of assignments. Thesis seminar (DIY) has got its own MyCourses where the assignments and instructions are published (This site). Students doing Thesis seminar remotely need to have strong drive and ability to work independently, and they follow Department's timetable for Thesis process, including submission of thesis plan to their MA programmes.
In both versions the main content is to support thesis plan writing since writing a good plan is roughly one third of the entire workload of 30cr Master's thesis. Consequently, the actual writing of the plan is part of the thesis work and not part of the 2cr Thesis seminar. However, you will receive credits about the Thesis seminar only after submission of the Thesis plan because MA programmes wish submission of plans through Thesis seminar MyCourses, and the course must be unfinished for the student to do the submission.
This MyCourses site is dedicated to the remote Thesis seminar (DIY).
