      Global sustainability crisis requires major transitions in human societies within a near future. Transforming our societies sustainable requires new kind of knowledge, skills and understanding. Already in the early 1970’s the role of education has been recognised as important actor in promoting sustainability. Also higher education institutions worldwide are responding to the crisis by initiatives to promote sustainability in research, education and societal interaction. 

      This section aims to familiarise you with the topic of sustainability and United Nations sustainable development (SDG) goals and support you to build an understanding on how you can to embed the topic in your teaching. If you choose to embed sustainability in your course, the materials provided in the Teaching and assessment section help you to choose the pedagogical methods and activities that support students’ learning on sustainability.
