Tuesdays 12-14 and Thursdays 14-16 (mostly shorter max 1 hour sessions)

Tue 14.4. Course start, course practices, Introduction to Climate change: “Status quo”
Thu 16.4. Science background of climate change: Myth busters / Sanna-Liisa Sihto-Nissilä
First group meeting online (groups decide their meeting times)
Week 2
Tue 21.4. On-line chat and check-up with groups
Wed 22.4 14-15 En-Roads Online Workshop by Climate Interactive – possibility to join online or listen the recording later Register here
Thu 23.4. Awareness-based approach and co-creation to promote climate actions / Meeri Karvinen (ENG) and Kirsi Hakio (ARTS) - you will need a pen and paper (and a peaceful environment)
Week 3
Tue 28.4. Carbon footprint as a measure of climate impact / Sanna-Liisa
Thu 30.4. Aerosols: air pollutants harming our health but cooling the planet / Sanna-Liisa (short lecture 30 min)
Week 4
Tue 5.5. Riding the waves of existential angst and the achievable challenges of getting carbon out of the power system / John Millar (ELEC)
Thu 7.5. Psychological obstacles to climate action and climate change denial / Kirsti Jylhä (PhD, post-doc researcher at Institute for Futures Studies, Sweden)
En-Roads Climate Simulator in groups: make your own climate scenario, groups make a 2 min video of their scenario and return their assignment answer by Sun 10.5.
Week 5
Tue 12.5. En-Roads Climate Simulator results session – overview of students’ scenario videos and discussion
Thu 14.5. Climate change and COVID-19 – lessons to be learned from the crisis? / PhD Ville Lähde from BIOS Research Unit (www.bios.fi)
Week 6
Tue 19.5. Group work (preparation for project work), lecturers available for guidance via Zoom or MyCourses chat
Wed 20.5. and Fri 22.5. Climate project presentations (Thu 21.5. is “Helatorstai”, no lecture then)
Project work (in groups, 5 cr course participants): Project plan for a climate relevant project. Any scale from big to small, but has to have some relevance to climate change mitigation.
