    EN-ROADS Assignment

Use the En-Roads climate solutions simulator to build your own best climate change mitigation scenario that will keep the warming below 2 degrees Celcius by 2100.

    PEER-REVIEW: SEE DETAILS BELOW!

As an introduction for En-Roads simulator, watch the introductory video at  or listen the recording of the webinar by Carbon Initiative on 22ndApril.

Do careful testing with the model of different technological, economical, and ecological parameters.

Make a short 2-3 min video as a group where you present your scenario. The videos are to be downloaded to MyCourses by Monday 11th May 14:00 and they are made available for all course participants. Your scenarios will be discussed in lecture session on Tue 12th May.

Provide answers to the questions listed in the Guided Assignment file below. The written part is submitted via MyCourses by Tuesday 12th May 10:00. A short self-assessment should be returned at the same time.

Language: This assignment (both the video and written part) is done in English.

    Hint:

You can just use the simulator online with your group (or by your own if you are doing the course independently)

    or

you can make your scenario as a role play mode: each group member takes a role and you will negotiate to make a common climate mitigation plan (e.g. one person from UN, one politician, one from oil industry, one from Greenpeace, one from a country which suffers the effects of climate change heavily etc.).

The assignment is based on the material provided by Climate Interactive.

    PEER-REVIEW

Scenarios will be peer-reviewed by the groups. Each group reviews two other groups' scenarios. Guidelines for peer-review can be found in the file below and the division who reviews what in another pdf-file (Peer-review table).

Please make your peer-review by Monday 18.5. Send your peer-review directly by email to the students in question and as cc to the teacher.

You can find all scenario videos in Panopto: https://aalto.cloud.panopto.eu/Panopto/Pages/Sessions/List.aspx?folderID=2caa2aaf-0642-497d-a8c5-abb8009d6e40
