Topic outline

  • The Studio structure 

    Lectures will be delivered weekly on sustainability and the basics of comprehensive planning followed by the tutoring sessions. The students will be gathered into groups. In the weekly tutoring sessions, the groups develop their ideas with the help of the teaching team. Teachers are professional planners with long and diverse experiences in regional and urban sustainable development. 

    The main task of the studio is to prepare a ‘policy framework’ for an area chosen by the group. The groups will study the recent sustainability theory and depart to their innovative proposals from a critical thinking deals with wicked problems facing sustainability. 

    In addition to reading on theory, the students approach the task through strategic planning tools such as case studies, scenario planning, area analysis and the examining of accessibility.
