  • Laboratory works

    The physical chemistry part of this course consists of laboratory work and written assignments in electrochemistry, chemical kinetics, and spectroscopy.

    PHYS CHEM I. Electrochemistry
    • lab "Determination of the standard potential of an Ag/AgCl electrode and the mean acitivity of HCl" including lab report
    PHYS CHEM II. Chemical kinetics 
    • lab "Reaction kinetic study of the hydrolysis mechanism of ethyl acetate" including pre-lab written assignment and lab report
    PHYS CHEM III. UV/VIS spectrophotometer
    • lab "Acid dissociation constant of bromothymol blue" including  lab report

    You will work in groups of 2-3 people in the lab. Work on assignments and lab reports, however, is to be performed individually. Guidelines for writing lab reports are given below.

      Pre-lab assignment: The pre-lab assignment is due the day before your lab session. Note that the sooner you submit your answers, the more likely you will get feedback in time.

      Lab: You are expected to prepare for the lab by submitting the pre-lab assignment and thinking through both the working instructions and the article. Note that the better you prepare yourself, the faster you will finish the experiment.
