Topic outline

  • The resources for the 3rd week (calendar week 39) of the course.

    During the third week we began studying techniques for virtualization, which is a central theme for the course altogether. We focused on the classical process abstraction, where implementing memory plays an important role.

    During lecture session on Monday (2020-09-21) we studied how multiprogramming can be implemented with the process abstraction.

    • There was prepared presentating, but also time to asks questions and get answers.
    • The slides are in Section Materials
    • There are some related notes on performance modeling and analysis (see below)

    The course exercise sessions continued also on Monday (2020-09-21), the 2nd exercises session concentrated on the 2nd exercise round.

    • The week is a good time to do the second round of exercises, which addresses memory hierarchy in addition to computing in general.
