Topic outline

    • Prepare by the next session. Please share your slides in mycourses before the session starts if possible. Prepare to present during the session.

Use both slides can be used as tools to detect the following aspects. Make your own version (you can make your own mind map or use these).Write your own bullet points in slides. Let me know if you have difficulties in removing my texts. I included a clean version of the slide #1.
      The triangle, slide #1:
      1. The practice-led or artistic research question. Try to look at your research question from this perspective: how does it clarify what you are particularly asking within practice, in your artistic experiment/ practice component/s.
      2. What are the realms the artistice/practice-led research question takes you towards ( what particular aspect of "practice" is in the core of your research and where does it start taking you.
      3. Name these in your slide. (You can erase my texts)

      The three circles, slide #2:

      1. In similar manner, try to detect what could be your essential                                                                               a)theoretical framework
      2. b) practice/art work: artistic, practice led research question: what/how.
      3. Methodology: how do you understand HOW you are doing your research.
      4. Your context : recognise the particular convention, professional field+the particular aspects in that field, something particular in film tradition (genre or wider convention of practice, some particular methods etc.).
      5. What type of knowledge or understanding you are after?                                                                                          Be specific, but write economically in bullet points. Eg. theoretical framework: Theory of recognition (the theorist name) or context: producing as practice, critical cinema praxis: film collectives such as xxx as critical film praxis

In both exercises, try to think, what is essential and what is peripheral.

You are in different phases and you cannot know answers to everything. Use these as tools to think. This is a process!
