Draft Research Plan (Submit your plan by 09:00 on 25.09) Forum
1. Submit your draft research plan by 09:00 on Friday 25.09. Share this separately with your thesis instructor for feedback.
Items to include:
Title page (1 page): Proposed title for the thesis, your name, date, and your thesis supervisor's name.
Proposed table of contents for entire thesis (1 page)
Introduction to the topic with clear problem and purpose statements (1 page)
References: 2 - 3 sources, which provide a general overview or introduction to the topic, e.g. a popular science article, textbook, review article, metastudy, etc. These should be formatted in your chosen referencing style. Indicate the style in the title: "References (IEEE style)". Give a one-sentence paraphrase or quote from the source below each one.
Weekly timeline from week 39 to week 51. Please include the scheduled meetings with your thesis supervisor and important deadlines (i.e., research draft, first draft, second draft, final draft, and final presentations). You should have at least 4 meetings with your supervisor, i.e., initial meeting, after drafting your research plan, after submitting the first draft, and after submitting the second draft.
2. In Session 2, choose another student's entry and give feedback. Start by first replying to their entry with your name so others will know it is taken. (Make sure everyone gets feedback.)
Copy the following questions into your reply and answer them:
Does the table of contents include each section of thesis? Would you add or change anything?
How clear was the introduction? Would you add or change anything?
Does the introduction follow the Toulmin-Zappen model?
Check the sources. Which style guide is being used? Is it consistent?
How realistic is the timeline based on the scope of the research?
3. After you have met your thesis instructor with the research plan, reply to your own research plan entry with a summary of their comments. Any reflections on their comments?
Final Research Plan (Due by 09:00 on 02.10.20) Assignment
After you receive feedback from your partner and your instructor, make any necessary revisions and submit by 09:00 on 02.10.
First Draft (Due by 09:00 on 16.10.20) Assignment
Please submit the first draft of the text. The length of the text should represent 40% of the final length of the paper. Your submission should include the introduction with preliminary problem statement and purpose statement. It should also include at least 3-5 references integrated into your writing (i.e. paraphrase or quote).
Second Draft (Due by 23:59 on 08.11.20) Turnitin Assignment
This draft should be a full length version of the text. We will be working on different academic writing considerations so this draft does not need to be a fully polished version. You will still have a few weeks to edit and make changes according to these considerations.
Final Draft (Due by 23:59 on 08.12.20) Turnitin Assignment
Submission of Finalized Bachelor Thesis to eAge (Due 23:59 on 18.12.2020)
Students will be notified by their thesis instructor whether or not they need to make any suggested changes after the Final draft. After being notified, students are required to submit a final PDF version of their Bachelor thesis to the eAge system.
