Welcome to Communicating Sustainable Solutions, a new 3-credit interdisciplinary Language Centre course based around the theme of sustainability
This course will teach you to
- Present, challenge and defend solutions to real-life sustainability issues faced by companies and
organizations
- Organise arguments clearly, cohesively and concisely in speaking and in writing
- Collaborate in interdisciplinary teams
During the course, you will learn the tools to collaborate in interdisciplinary teams to find solutions
to real-life sustainability issues faced by companies and organizations. Each student will function as an
expert on their particular area within the team and will be responsible for researching the solution from
that particular angle, for example, design, branding, technical or financial viability. You will practise
structuring arguments and counterarguments both in speaking and in writing as well as apply
different types of reasoning behind argumentation. In addition, you will analyse speeches and sample texts toidentify strengths and weaknesses.During the course, you will receive constructive feedback onyour written and spoken argumentation skills, give feedback to others, and reflect on your own
performance.
