Kaikki (vanhan malliset) lomakkeet löytyvät Lomakkeita ja ohjeita -välilehdeltä. Uusia lomakkeita (1.8.2021 jälkeen aloitetut työt) ei vielä tätä tekstiä kirjoittaessa ollut saatavilla (6.9.2021).
Opiskelijat voivat aloittaa kandityön milloin tahansa. Työn tekeminen voi alkaa sopimalla aiheesta ohjaajan kanssa.
Työn aloittamisesta on hyvä kertoa (sähköpostiviestillä) seminaarin vetäjälle eli (Riikka Kortteelle). Opiskelijan on myös hyvä ilmoittautua kurssille Oodissa, jotta hän pääsee seuraamaan MyCoursesissa tapahtuvaa tiedotusta.
Kandityö on noin 20 sivua pitkä.
Myös kandityöesitelmän voi pitää milloin tahansa, mutta silloin, kun esitelmiä on enemmän, esitelmiä saatetaan järjestää keskitetysti. Kandiseminaarissa järjestetään myös ajoittain muita tapaamisia, joista tiedotetaan opiskelijoille MyCoursesin kautta.
Yleensä työn tekijä sopii esitelmän ajankohdasta yhdessä työn ohjaajan kanssa. Kandityön tekijä tiedottaa ajankohdasta kandiseminaarin pitäjälle ja ohjaaja ilmoittaa esitelmästä esitelmät-kalenterissa.
Työn alussa olisi hyvä täyttää kandityön aihehakemus ja lähettää se osoitteeseen grades-sci@aalto.fi. Jos lomake on unohtunut ja työ on jo valmistumassa, ei aihehakemusta tarvitse enää täyttää.
Työ arvostellaan siihen tarkoitetulla lomakkeella. Kaikki pääaineen professorit voivat itsekin allekirjoittaa tämänkin lomakkeen itse, mutta lomakkeeseen pitää täyttää myös tieto siitä, että seminaari (8 käyntiä) ja seminaariesitelmä on hoidettu. Lomakkeet voi halutessaan myös tuoda Riikka Kortteelle täydennettäviksi ja allekirjoitettaviksi. Arvostelulomakkeet postitetaan osoitteeseen grades-sci@aalto.fi. Huom! 1.8.2021 jälkeen aloitetut työt arvostellaan asteikolla 0-5. Arvostelun yhdenmukaisuuden seuraamiseksi näiden töiden arviointilomakkeet olisi hyvä toimittaa eteenpäin seminaarin vetäjän (Riikka Kortteen) kautta.
Vuoden 2021 alusta seminaarin suorittaminen vaatii 8 esitelmän seuraamista. Näihin voi sisältyä sekä kandiesitelmiä että muita esitelmiä.
Opiskelijan tulee myös muistaa huolehtia kypsyysnäytteestä. Ohjeet löytyvät näiltä MyCourses-sivuilta. Opintotoimistossa tarkistetaan, että kypsyysnäyte on suoritettu ennen opintojakson kirjaamista opintorekisteriin, joten ohjaajan ei tarvitse huolehtia sen suorittamisesta.
Seminaarin suorituspäiväksi merkitään se päivä, jolloin opiskelija on osallistunut 8 esitelmään.
The student can start writing the bachelor thesis at all times. The process starts by finding an advisor and by choosing a suitable topic together with the advisor.
The student should inform the teacher of the seminar (Riikka Korte) about starting the thesis and about the choice of advisor.
The student should also register for the course in MyCourses in order to stay up to date on what is going on. Sometimes the seminar has other events in addition to the seminar talks. These events will be announced in MyCourses.
The thesis should be about 20 pages.
The bachelor thesis talk can be given at all times. Sometimes when there are several students writing the thesis at the same time (e.g. in summer) the talks can be scheduled and organised by the responsible professor for the bachelor seminar.
The talk is usually 30 - 45 minutes long. The target audience should be other bachelor level students (in mathematics). Usually the student and the advisor agree on the time. Then the advisor books a lecture hall (or zoom-channel), advertises the talk in the seminar calendar of the department and chairs the talk. The student should inform Riikka Korte about the talk.
It is good to apply for the topic for the thesis in the beginning of the writing process. The form can be found here and sent to grades-sci@aalto.fi.
Once the thesis is ready and the talk has been given, the advisor/supervisor should fill the evaluation form. It can also be found here. All the professors and lecturers of the math department can sign the form. (If the advisor is not a professor or lecturer at our department, then the thesis should have a supervisor who is.) Also the responsible professor for the seminar (Riikka Korte) can sign it, but every thesis has to have a supervisor from our department. The role of the supervisor is in particular to make sure already during the writing process that the thesis meets the criteria for a bachelor thesis in mathematics. Then the evaluation form should be sent to grades-sci@aalto.fi.
The theses started after August 1, 2021, have to be evaluated with scale 0-5. In order to monitor that all supervisors approximately uniform scale in grading, we hope that you send the evaluation form to the responsible professor.
Starting from January 2021, the students have to participate in 8 talks. These talks can include bachelor thesis talks, seminar talks, colloquiums, phd defences etc.
The student should also remember to take care of "kypsyysnäyte". Instructions can be found in MyCourses. The advisor does not need to check that it is done as the people at the study office will get the information about it directly form the language center.
