  • Overview of SMOTI 2021

    Course Description

    The course is about how established and startup firms increase their performance by creating and capturing value from new technologies and innovations. Accordingly, the following broad topics will be discussed: creating value from opportunities arising from industry and technology change; capturing value from innovation; managing stakeholders of innovation; leveraging external sources of innovation.

    Course Objective

    After the course, participants should have

    • Strengthened their proficiency in established and contemporary concepts, theories, and tools in Strategic Management of Technology and Innovation and their ability to apply those in real life,
    • Improved their analytical and prescriptive strategy skills, and
    • Deepened their understanding of different empirical phenomena in Strategic Management of Technology and Innovation

    Attendance

    As the course is largely composed of seminar presentations and case analyses, much of the learning occurs in the active discussions made in the classroom. Therefore, attendance is compulsory. Especially, as student groups will be formed during the first session, all students must be present at the first session of the course
