  • Here you will find more information on the Master's thesis process from the programme Creative Sustainability in Design.

The thesis consists of three PARTS, for each of which students receive 10 ECTS: PART 1) the submission of the Extended Thesis Plan, preceded by the Thesis Plan Proposal, PART 2) executing the thesis plan under the guidance of the thesis supervisor/advisor and presenting the thesis and, PART 3) submitting the finalised written thesis.

Please refer to the Master's programme in Creative Sustainability in Design for more information on the thesis process. You will find further details on the steps required for each part on this MyCourses page, under Thesis PART 1, 2 and 3.

Here is general information on doing a Master's thesis in Design at Aalto, including the schedule for the thesis process 2023-2024.

Here is a link to the Master's Thesis Guide of Aalto University for the School of Arts, Design and Architecture. The guide includes criteria for evaluation.

Before completing the Extended Thesis Plan for PART 1,  please complete the Thesis Plan Orientation (TPO) course. Registration for the course opens on the 1st of August. During the course, you will write the Thesis Plan Proposal which outlines your thesis topic and basic elements of your plans for the thesis. The TPO's MyCourses page has many helpful resources regarding the technical aspects of writing a thesis.

Following the TPO course, please participate in the CS Design PART 2 presentations to find a supervisor for your thesis more easily. The next date for the presentations is Friday 29th September.

While writing, make use of the Language Centre and Writing Clinic resources.
