Welcome to "Paper development workshop: Qualitative research"

During the winter and the spring we develop your papers drawing on the analyses of qualitative data.

Due to the hands-on nature of this course, there is a limited participation and more advanced doctoral students are given the priority. The participants need to work on a full paper during the spring. The paper can be e.g. a conference paper, a journal article or a thesis essay.

While there are multiple approaches to qualitative research, we adopt one which is the most used and published in the best academic journals – the data-driven approach. In this approach, the kind of arguments that the paper can make, and thus its’ scope and potential contribution, are defined by the data. Be prepared to work with your empirical materials from the day one of the workshop.

The course is then structured accordingly – moving from data analysis, to theorizing from the data, to scoping the full paper. This being said, there is room for alternative progress with our papers, depending on your approach and the status of the paper.

The meeting times are the following:
    Fri 21.01.21 at 09.00-12.00
    Fri 18.02.21 at 09.00-16.00
    Fri 08.04.21 at 09.00-16.00
    Fri 27.05.21 at 09.00-16.00

Meetings take place in Zoom, and depending on the situation also a hybrid format may be possible later.

    Welcome to join the workshop!
