Topic outline

  • - The book exam consists only of self‐preparation and there are no scheduled lectures or exercises.

    - Registration to exam: Via Sisu latest one week in advance.

    - Exam questions are in essay format.

    - There are three compulsory books. Due to the COVID-19 situation, you may choose an alternative E-book. See information on the Materials section regarding the compulsory books and the alternative E-books.

    - The exam consists of three parts. To pass you need to answer and pass all parts separately.

    Part I consists of questions related to Christensen, Clayton M. & Raynor, Michael E. (2003) The Innovator's Solution OR ALTERNATIVELY Innovation: Essentials from Leader to Leader. (2013) (E-book)

    Part II consists of questions related to Chesbrough, Henry W. (2003) Open innovation: The new imperative for creating and profiting from technology OR ALTERNATIVELY Chesbrough, Henry; Vanhaverbeke, Wim and West, Joel (2006) Open innovation: Researching a new paradigm. (E-book)

    Part III consists of questions related to Rumelt, Richard (2011) Good Strategy, Bad Strategy: The Difference and Why It Matters (In Print or E-book)

    IMPORTANT: Answer Parts I, II and III separately. Upload one file (Word or Pdf) for each part under the respective submission box. Remember to indicate the books and questions answered.

    You may answer the essay questions either in English or in Finnish.

    Please, notice that you are asked to interpret and apply the information in the readings rather than only reproducing the text in the books.

    Additional electronic exam guidelines:

    - Before the exam date please make sure your internet connection is working and you are able to log in to this course’s MyCourses page with your aalto username and password.

    - On the day of the exam log in to MyCourses well in advance (for example about 20 minutes before the exam starts) to avoid traffic. Log in on this course’s page (not on your own front page!) to avoid any traffic caused by signing in.

     - Do not log out and log in again in MyCourses during the exam, if not necessary.

     - During the exam, if you want to use material that has been shared on this course’s MyCourses page via links in Materials section, please download the material to your own computer before the exam. If possible, avoid browsing material in MyCourses during the exam.
