The objectives of this lab are to gain practical skills in state-based design of automation software, Implementation of state-based design, use of timers in the state-based design and designing and using new function blocks. In Lab 3, you will be required to create some Codesys projects. You will create PLC programs in ST and LD languages.
In addition to implementing and reporting PLC code, this activity has students evaluate the projects of other students. This laboratory's evaluation is based on dual-blind peer review.
Assignment 1 is one of the two big assignments for the course which will equate to 10% of the course marks. There will be no lab sessions for the assignments, they have to be done with any support.
In assignment 1, we focus on the development of the control application to control an elevator using the IEC 61131 standard.
Assignment 1 is peer-reviewed in which along with solving your own assignment, you will grade and evaluate submissions. The goal of the peer-review is to help you analyze various structured text(ST) implementations, state machine designs and also help you learn different methods of solving the same problem.
