Welcome to Laboratory Course in Functional Materials
Spring 2016, Periods III-V
Compulsory prerequirement: CHEM-E5140 Materials Characterization, laboratory course
Two laboratory projects done in groups and there are five projects available in Spring 2016:
WORK 1: Carbon Reinforced Ceramics (Period III)
WORK 2: Dispersion of Graphene (Period III)
WORK 3: Thin Film Tribology (Period IV)
WORK 4: Superhydrophobic ZnO Nanorods (work is offered both in Period IV and V)
WORK 5: Electrodeposition of Copper (Period V)
Note that you cannot take two projects during the same period.
The COMPULSORY lectures for this course are
11th January, 12-14, Lecture Hall V1: Introduction to laboratory works
12th January, 12-14, Lecture Hall V1: Division to groups and choice of the works
The laboratory works are introduced and the groups are formed in these lectures - thus, it is important to be present in these lectures.
The course structure is roughly the following:
- Each student chooses two laboratory works from the list of five work
- The works are done in the groups of 3 students (except WORK 1 which is done in groups of 4 students)
- Each group plans, executes and presents these two works together; additionally, each student writes a report from laboratory works individually.
- In the end of May, the groups present their results in seminars.
