1. Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is that the student is able to utilize expertise in design services, development and innovation. The student will need to demonstrate service design knowledge on the applying service design knowledge on practical project - proposing improvements for different Aalto university services.
2. Service design project: Aalto University services
The project course focuses on different Aalto University services:
·Aalto ARTS Bookstore,
·Student services and
·Aalto University Properties.
The course examines university service issues holistically from the understanding the university structure, different departments and end users. Furthermore, it looks into service providers' perspective as well as end user side. To do that different service design tools are adopted such as, communication map, networks modelling, service users journeys, scenarios and personas.
At the end of course students divided in groups will present their final project publically to project partners and interested audience.
The presentations include investigations of users' needs, contextual potentials and challenges, explorations and co-design of potential design solutions. The outcomes include outline of the process, insights, design drivers and solution concepts.
